Aloha, I am Vinnie Linares, a teacher of English, ESL, and linguistics
at Maui Community College for the past 23 years! Since our campus serves
three separate islands, we have been in the alternative delivery
business ever since we opened our doors in 1968--therefore I have flown
to classes for the night, taught on cable, inter-active video, through
the fax, computer and now on-line. Because of my experiences, I currently
chair our faculty union Distance Education/Intellectual Property Rights
Committee, and as Academic Senate Chair have been charged with
developing appropriate guidelines, principles, policies, and procedures
for our campus alternative delivery programs--which continue to grow.
My primary interests are that we guranteee access, equity, and standards for
student and faculty alike when it comes to any distance education effort.
