I agree with your point of the cost of joining organizations and annual
dues. I feel the same way abut conferences and registration fees (not to
mention travel, meals, and hotel costs!) That is why a conference like
this is so important. The cost in minimal. The information is not! I
have learned more in these past two conferences than at many I have
attended at a MUCH higher cost to me. The networking is invaluable. Some
of the things I read about last year I am trying in my classes this year.
I already have many ideas now for next year.This is the importance of
online education. It is current. We can ask questions, get clarification
when needed, and still stop in the Coconut Cafe for a cool drink on
pineapple! The other nice thing is that instead of taking notes on the
keynote speach I can reread it at any time. I guess in an unorganized way
I am trying to say that vehicles like this conference are ways to become
better organized and peer-regulated.
