new listserve?

Just wanted to let people know that our new service at waoe.org has a
listserve feature that we have been exploring. I discovered, in the process
of configuring it, that at this point it does not have an "archive" feature
that functions (service provider says it is not available "at this time").
This would mean that only those who are currently subscribed to the list
will be able to read posts; there will be no way for members who later
subscribe to refer back to previous discussions.

This feature seems important for a variety of reasons, (the archive
function, that is) and it seems limiting not to have it. At the same time,
I understand that Mary Ellen N. has offered to set up such a listserve at
her school--I would imagine that this one would have more active features
than our waoe server at present.

I certainly can have the waoe-list listserve working to its capacity
a.s.a.p., if it will be useful (it actually is currently functioning, but
I've hesitated to post info about it because of its current limits). At the
same time, if Mary Ellen is working on a full-featured system, I don't want
to clutter us with extras.

There have been a variety of messages (to me and to the list) about the
urgency (or not) to move from the keyone-l list; I will gladly do what I can
to help facilitate this when it is necessary, but I also don't want to
overstep where others have taken responsibility and initiative.

Best wishes,

Brian
