I wasn't convinced that the actual computer (or ip address) was the problem.
I suspected, instead, that it had something to do with my e-mail settings at
home and at school. At least in my case this is just what it turned out to
be.
In my e-mail settings (using Eudora in one place and Outloolk Express in
another) there are two crucial points of info. 1)pop account 2)smtp
The first one is my e-mail address and the second is the mail server through
which I send and receive mail. These have to be set to the same settings at
home and at school. In fact, I can send/receive mail using either
"@apollo.commnet.edu" or "@commnet.edu" in general, but if I subscribed to
keyone-l with the "@apollo.commnet.edu" then I can't post using simply
"@commnet.edu" (and I had my school system set to "@apollo etc." while my
home one was set to "@commnet.edu")
Sorry to bore people with this stuff, but it may be useful--and it may be
helpful to understand whether some of the listerve "problems" are actually
problems in individual mail-software settings.
