For your information, Joe Beckmann and I agreed on the following:
I wrote in part: "how about changing the currently proposed Finance
Committee, maybe not wildly popular, to Planning and Finance Committee?
Then both plans and the means to achieve them could be taken up."
He replied: "Sure, and I fully support consolidated committees until or
unless they have too much to do, and want or need to spin off.
Practically, Development & Planning are mostly financial for startups
anyway."
Thanks a lot, Joe. Same number of committees, but with a more
substantial mission for one of them. Provisionally, I'll make that
change in the next draft of the suggested committee system. Based on
recent discussions we could just say on the membership processing form
that members may join subject-area or organizational committees. Hopeful
response: "Wowee. I can?!"
